| GUIDELINES FOR THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF JOINT OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEES AT SENECA COLLEGE |
PREAMBLE
1. The occupational
Health and Safety Act requires the establishment of a Joint Health and
Safety Committee where twenty or more workers are regularly employed at
a workplace and to hold Joint Committee meeting on a regular basis.
2. It is our firm
belief that through joint programs, joint investigations of problems, and
joint resolution of those problems, the workplace will be made safe and
healthy for all employees.
3. The parties acknowledge
that the proper functioning of the Joint Health and Safety Committees can
only be carried out where the representatives of the employer and the workers
are committed to these responsibilities. To effect this, the undersigned
undertake to make decisions that will be carried out by their respective
organizations.
4. The parties further
acknowledge the value of cooperative dialogue and shared commitment.
5. The parties hereto
adopt these guidelines in good faith and agree to promote and assist the
Joint Health and Safety Committees whenever and wherever possible.
